Description

During the last laden passage the No.1 turbocharger (ABB A165-L, s/n 41027) showed rising exhaust gas temperatures and abnormal vibration at loads above 75% MCR. The Chief Engineer has since limited the main engine to 70% MCR as a precaution. We require an ABB approved workshop to attend the vessel during the Rotterdam call, remove the turbocharger, carry out a full overhaul including rotor balancing, bearing renewal and casing inspection, and refit and test the unit before departure. Spare parts to be quoted separately based on the findings report. Riding crew and class attendance are not required at this stage.
